Proposed Timeline
| February 24-26, 2025 | SCSC consultants present search process and timelines. Assist the school district in posting vacancy notice on multiple state sites. (SCSC, Ed Post, MSBA, MN School Jobs). |
| February 26– March 18 | Advertise, recruit, and accept applications. Screening of candidates. Board planning/contract parameters, engaging the community/staff/students through on-line survey and |
| March 20-21, 2025 | Board Members provided time to review all candidate applications –individually and confidential, board members only. |
| March 24, 2025 | Board meeting: SCSC Consultants present candidate profile report and make recommendation on candidates to interview. Board approves candidates to interview. |
| March 27, 2025 | Complete the first round of candidate interviews. |
| April 3, 2025 | Conduct final interviews and Board offer. |
April 2-7, 2025 April10, 2025 |
SCSC consultants work with WEM Board committee and candidate to finalize contract negotiations. Board work session – Special Meeting to approve new superintendent contract. |
Job Posting
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (WEM) Public Schools is seeking a Superintendent as of July 1, 2025. Candidates must possess licensure as a Superintendent in the State of Minnesota or demonstrate their ability to secure licensure by July 1, 2025. Previous experience as a superintendent is preferred but not required.
The WEM Schools Office is located in Waterville, Minnesota, approximately 30 miles East of Mankato. The WEM School District serves the communities of Waterville, Elysian and Morristown. It serves approximately 775 students in PreK-12th grade programs.
Job Requirements
- Manage school district operations
- Provide solid day to day management of financial and personnel resources
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of school finance
- Ability to lead teams and groups of people for the future planning of WEM Schools
- Active community involvement
